United Way Wins the First Highfive Meeting Room Makeover Contest

We’re in the business of reimagining meetings, which includes the space where you have the meetings themselves. And, yes, we mean your meeting rooms, from small huddle rooms to large boardrooms. Those bland spaces filled with a table, some chairs, maybe a window if you’re lucky, and, most likely, a hideous tangled web of cables, remotes, hardware, and screens.

We’ve all been there, and Highfive is on a mission to turn every meeting room into a modern powerhouse of productivity and a catalyst for better collaboration. To that end, we launched a Meeting Room Makeover contest a few months ago to help one organization, regardless of size or budget, win a better, more intelligent meeting room experience.

“Highfive is helping us reimagine our meetings and our approach to collaboration.”
– Mark Lamothe, SVP, Marketing, United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley

Our first (yep, there will be more) Meeting Room Makeover contest attracted more than 150 submissions. Teams from all over the U.S. submitted photos of their sad meeting spaces and told us why they desperately needed a makeover. We reviewed each and every one of them and the winner was (drum roll, please) the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley!

This team of hardworking, dedicated professionals serves the Greater Boston area, helping to improve lives by mobilizing communities. Their region covers a huge area, with traffic being a major impediment to local travel as they could spend more than two hours driving to and from a single meeting. They tried to make do with legacy solutions and old speakerphones to join conference calls, but the quality was worse than just dialing in from their own phones. When they had to join video meetings, they simply couldn’t.

United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley entered Highfive’s Meeting Room Makeover contest and won a Highfive Premium solution, along with a glass whiteboard, two 65″ 4K monitors, and a fantastic custom mural to spark more creativity in their newly reimagined meeting room.

“When I saw how easy it was to use Highfive, I was just blown away!”
– Kaira Lum, Volunteer Engagement and Signature Events Coordinator, United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley

Their new Highfive Premium video conferencing system now lets the United Way team communicate clearly during meetings, enabling them to do more and better work for their communities. Now they can hear every participant, remote participants can hear them, and they can interact face to face with colleagues and community members. It creates a personal connection regardless of where they’re using Highfive’s immersive “like you’re there” audio and video experience. It’s also sparking new conversations about leveraging the technology to communicate and collaborate with donors, volunteers, and community partners.
